Through our mission Statement of working in partnership with God and His people we have assisted 8 families within Rock, Nobles and Pipestone County to have ownership of simple, decent and affordable homes.

Southwestern Minnesota Habitat for Humanity Data

Southwestern Minnesota Habitat for Humanity was incorporated in May of 2001. We assisted families in acquiring decent affordable housing in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2014. Nobles and Rock Counties currently have 3 Habitat Homes. Pipestone County has 2 homes. We are currently seeking land for our next home to be built in Pipestone County.

Our board members are recruited from each county with equal representation of 3 members from each county being our goal. Board members are asked to attend monthly and special board meetings as needed to complete business. Each board member will also volunteer to be on one of our committees allowing a monthly report from each committee. Our monthly board meetings are held in Luverne, MN on the fourth (4th) Thursday of each month. Our annual meeting is held in May for the purpose of adopting the new operating budget and the induction of our new officers and committee members.

I am Dar Eslick with Americorps Vista. I am developing a program called A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. This is a nationwide effort to serve low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. Within a year, we will also be looking into extending this to critical home repair such as plumbing and electrical work. This is a hand up not a hand out.
